Sony Xperia X8 – Life beyond my BlackBerry

Thank you Sony for saving me last week! My BlackBerry key pad jammed and went in for repairs for 3 weeks.. Yes three weeks! BlackBerry goes out of their way to convince me that BB is the only way, I get hooked and as soon as there is a technical problem I am left high and dry.

Enter Sony Xperia X8. This Gorgeous little android was mine to test and it arrived at exactly the right moment.
It was adapt or die, on the work front! As I am on the road as a rep most of the time I need to be in contact. E-mail connection is vital to monitor orders coming in and out of the roastery and ensuring customer satisfaction. So I quickly loaded my mails and was good to go.

It was not all roses though, as I didn’t have my unlimited internet connection and the second I walked out of my work Wi-fi zone, it started charging me, not to mention the tone of sms’s I had to send as I no longer had BBM.

That of course is not the phone, but rather the unforunate contract I am locked into for another year!
Apparently Band Width is getting cheaper and Android will soon be on the up! Especially when people like me, who thought they where sold on BlackBerry, have it taken away and are forced to test what else is out there!

What I liked about the X8, was how personal the system is. I know lot’s of devices put pictures next to contact details but the X8 just seemed to do it better, so I had my best friends face behind all the messages I read, it was an awesome touch to the timescape. I am not techi, so that is what turned me on.

It took a while however to get used to the touch screen, but I quickly found out how incredible the predictive text was and given a few more days, I would have been up to speed.

It is beautifully compact, yet has a big screen (easy net browsing) and a great camera for those happy weekend moments.

Over all it totally outshines my old BB in looks and system. I can’t help but miss my BBM and internet connection. Any advice Sony?

Beautiful World

A stunningly emotional depiction of nature and femininity.

I Love the song, the beautiful girl and her obviously fearlessness to be in all those shots with ‘wild animals.’

Set in Mexico as a campaign for tourism, it still shows how amazing our planet is. Take a look and appreciate how blessed we are.

Marmaduke Duke

One of my favorite artists, Simon Neil collaborates with Marmaduke Duke to bring you a slightly easier listening album..  I last saw Biffy in London in 2009 and it continues to rank, top 5 of all my life experiences! I managed to get a ticket for 20pounds, lost my shirt and walked out of there drenched.. Truly incredible!

I Wood if I could

I have never cared to much for watches. None of them ever stood out and most seemed way over priced. Yes, I would like a Tag one day when I am ‘grown up’ but it still seems that I could do more with 20K.

I am however, very excited about WeWood. It seems they have designed a watch out of wood. Seems pretty original! So now I am going to enter the 10and5 competition to WIN one of these beauties. You should too.

Do the His and Hers thing, if you have a him of course.

Be the difference in Cape Town

What can you say you have contributed to the Inner City community? We all love Cape Town, it’s beauty,  energy and possibilities. The reality is that there is much suffering taking place.  You don’t have to be ‘religious’ to make a difference. Seek justice in our city.

Be the difference!

Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros – Home

Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros from Speaker TV on Vimeo.

Found this song on BLD-Sweat-Tears …. It was playing in the backround and I had to go and find it. Listening to this song was like a journey in itself.

I am not entirely sure how long these hippy musicians have been around but I quite like the feel of their music. ‘If you threw Kings of Leon, Scissor Sisters and Arcade Fire into a blender, this – with an obligatory shot of wheatgrass – is exactly what you would get in your musical glass.’

Home is where ever I am with you.

Someone like you

This is the song that has been in my head for about two weeks. Although it is beautifully haunting, it is being sung by all those around me in only the best shower voices!

Just got the whole 21 Album. Not what I usually like, but really enjoying it.

Online Group Deals

In most of my posts I express my love of Cape Town, it’s people and the every day experiences available to those privileged enough to visit this glittering city or, her residents.

With that feeling comes the hope for the city to prosper and when she prospers so will the people. Inspiring I know! So what about all these group buying sites? Exciting yes, because you and I can get great deals. Shark cage diving, Queens Plate Tickets, Spa treatments all reduced up to 50%. No catch! Easy to buy and most of the time you don’t even need a credit card! Perfectly safe and affordable.

Previously I favored Twangoo, (Bought half price VIP, MCQP tickets) basically I never knew anything else. Now I am pretty keen on Ubuntu Deal, mostly for the personal support I felt on my last perchase. I like that reassurance of someone on the other end.

Anyway, it’s good for the little guys, but is it good for businesses in Cape Town? To many manipulations can often confuse the consumer to the point where nothing is bought at all and businesses loose all together. If you have bought something for half price, would you ever consider paying full price again? Probably not.

But, it could be good marketing to initially get customers to come to your venue.

The hospitality industry is so competitive in Cape Town with so many amazing restaurants and hotels popping up over the last year. What sets any of these apart from one another?

Im just voicing my concerns about businesses prosperity in Cape Town as I search for a gap in the market that I can one day fill with a business of my own. For now I shall inform you of the best deal out there for us little guys, bearing in mind we need to experience this city. Let’s do it this weekend!
